Event Description

The Festival is a five-day event showcasing films based on environmental issues of local and global concern. The event, taking place from October 19th to the 23rd, is being organized by ECOMB, in partnership with the Miami Beach Cinematheque, CNBC6 and The Society of Environmental Journalists. The Festival will feature some of the most contemporary environmental documentaries, addressing issues of urgent environmental importance.

In order to ensure a greener future for generations to come, we, as individuals, must attempt to make some significant changes, and form a balance that is both sustainable and practical. The South Florida Environmental Film Festival aims to educate individuals using visual arts, and inspire them to make such changes and become advocates for the environmentalist cause in their daily lives.

Play Again

One generation from now most people in the U.S. will have spent more time in the virtual world than in nature.  PLAY AGAIN investigates the consequences of a childhood removed from nature and encourages action for a sustainable future.

The Light Bulb Conspiracy

Once upon a time... consumer goods were built to last. In the 1920’s, a group of businessmen realized the longer their product lasted, the less money they made, thus Planned Obsolescence was born, and manufacturers have been engineering products to fail ever since.

The Pipe

In a remote corner of the West of Ireland sits Broadhaven Bay. It is the perfect picture postcard, where the high cliffs of Erris Head and the Stags of Broadhaven stand sentry at the mouth of the bay.  However, this peaceful tranquility belies the turmoil that lies beneath, and the unique nature of the coastline which has sustained generations of farmers and fishermen, has also delivered to Shell Oil the perfect landfall for the Corrib Gas Pipeline.
