WHITE PARTY WEEK™ 2009 CELEBRATES A 25TH ANNIVERSARY

This November, thousands of guests from all walks of life will descend on Miami and Miami Beach for the “Crown Jewel” of HIV/AIDS fundraisers, the 25th annual White Party Week™ Miami. Produced by Care Resource, the annual White Party Week™ is a series of internationally acclaimed HIV/AIDS fundraisers – to benefit the men, women and youth affected/infected by HIV/AIDS. Recognized as one of the oldest and largest 100% HIV/AIDS benefits in the world, White Party Week™ will celebrate a dazzling silver anniversary. This year’s spectacular festivities will be themed as: “A Formal Affair.”

The White Party™, the main event of the week, will once again be held at the world famous Villa Vizcaya Museum and Gardens Saturday November 29th, 2009. This main event will feature international superstar DJ/Producer Tony Moran spinning on the main dance floor overlooking beautiful Biscayne Bay on the east side of the mansion, The casino at the rear of the Mansion grounds which will feature local entertainers and casino games including poker and blackjack where guests will try their hand to win fabulous prizes. Some of South Florida’s favorite restaurants will call the palatial Vizcaya grounds their temporary home for the evening as they serve delicious, bite-sized portions of their famous cuisines. Thousands will be on hand, all donning their most creative White attire.

When asked about this year’s amazing array of events, Care Resource Executive Director Rick Siclari stated: “We are so excited to reach this 25 year pinnacle with White Party Week Miami™ and invite all to join us in celebration, but must emphasize [our] mission. We are in a very different place than 25 years ago. We now know so much about HIV, and how it works. We have developed several combination HIV therapies, which have changed the epidemic into one which is focused on chronic disease management. With still no cure however, we continue the need for lifelong medical monitoring, and drug treatment. As an HIV services provider, this means we have really altered our approach to a more medical model of care, with support services, such as counseling, etc. very focused on getting folks into care, and helping them to remain compliant once there. At this point, everyone, almost without exception should be tested for HIV, similar to knowing if you have high blood pressure. So likewise, we dedicate significant resources to testing, and continue to break down the walls created by stigma for so long. Care Resource has many novel and successful programs targeting our very diverse communities. We have recently expanded access to medical care to those who are HIV negative as well, with a special focus on LGBT community, and their many special health needs. This is an important focus and population we have served since our inception.”

White Party Week Miami™, started in 1985 also has the moniker of being the most featured AIDS fundraiser, being covered by stations around the world including CNN and E! -Entertainment Television. White Party Week Miami™ has raised millions of dollars for Care Resource, South Florida’s oldest and largest HIV/AIDS community service organization.
