Race 1 Results:
We qualified 5th in class for the first race. After the green flag I was able to pass a few cars, but spun while trying to avoid an on track accident. It was a close call with oncoming traffic, but I was able to keep the car out of trouble and get it back on track. There was a lot of carnage everywhere and that brought out several full course yellows which tightened up the field. On the last few laps I was able to pass some cars as well as an L2 competitor for the 4th position in class. I was gaining on the next L2 competitor which held the 3rd place position, but there was not enough time. We took the checkered flag in 4th place with the car in one piece. I thank my team for giving me a great car! Based on my lap time, we will be starting 5th in class for race 2.
Race 2 Results:
We had a great start for the 2nd race putting us within striking distance of the 4th place competitor. During the first few laps, we battled for position back and forth. There was even some contact between us as we went through the infield. Coming into turn 1 on the edge, the tires broke loose and I had an off-road excursion. Luckily, I was able to avoid the tire barrier and get the car back on the track. After that point, some of the L2 competitors pulled off the track for various reasons putting us into the 3rd spot. The car stayed together for the duration of the race and I crossed the finish line in the 3rd place position giving us a podium finish. I thank my team for giving me a realiable car that made it to the finish line!
...So we're off to see the 12 hours of Sebring! You can find us in the Patron tent drinking some tequila!
Stay tuned for the next race...
