Bio: Kim Newlin was a birthright Quaker. After graduating from Liberty High School, Liberty, NC(June 1962), Mr. Newlin earned a BSc in Phys, Guilford College(1966), MSc, Agri Econ, Clemson Univ(1969), and Masters, Indust Engr, Texas A&M Univ(1970). Career: Following an internship at Red River Army Depot, Texarkana, TX(1968-70), he became a Professor of Logistics at the US Army Logistics Mgmt Ctr(ALMC) at Ft Lee, VA. Next, he became a Rsch Economist(1971-78) in the US Army Procurement Rsch Ofc. He was an International Trade Consultant(1978-05) at the SE Fisheries Science Ctr(SEFSC)/Natl Marine Fisheries Service/NOAA/US Dept of Commerce in Miami, FL. He is currently, Co-Keeper of the LOG (CREW Roster) of the SS Fellowship(2001-Pres). Family: Mr Newlin married Beverly Jane Agnew and they have three children and two grandsons, Kim, Jr, Stephanie, Laurie, grandsons, Tyler & Kyle. Prof/Civic Memberships: Fellow(1983) and Certified Profnl Logistician(CPL)(1976) in recognition of his demonstrated competence in the science of supply, and Life Mbr(1978), Society of Logistics Engineers(SOLE); Certified Profnl Estimator(CPE)(1983), Life Mbr in the National Assn of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), National Estimating Society; JCI Senator 34940(1983) and Life Mbr #36(1985)-Florida JCI Senates; and Charter Life Mbr(1993) with the Rank of Colonel, Florida Gator Corps. Mr Newlin has devoted the last 30 years to volunteer community service and was past Community Development VP(1978-79) & Life Mbr(1978), Virginia Jaycees; and Presidential Advisor(1985-86) and FL Jaycee Act Team(1983-89), Florida Jaycees; and Treasurer(1988-89) and Administrative Vice-President(1989-90), Florida JCI Senate; Chief of Staff, Coconut Grove Jaycees(1978-90) where they annually raised over $150,000 for charity and been recognized annually for eight years(1982-89) as one of the top chapters in the nation. MATE in the US JCC Crew THE S.S. FELLOWSHIP(Nominated by the Late Hugh McKenna for membership in the in the CREW in 1997). Mr Newlin has been an avid campaigner in Da..y Politics, FL(1988-Pres). Honors/Awards/Volunteer/Charity Work: US JCI Senate #1 Return the Favor JCI Senator Nationwide, 6/03, FL JCI Senate Officer of the Year(Hommer Sheppard Memorial Award)(1989); Outstanding Service Plaque, Florida JCI Senate(1990); Coconut Grove Jaycees Palm Award, 10 years' Outstanding Service(1989); Henry Colona Trophies for the most outstanding contributions in the Florida Jaycees statewide for an overage Jaycee, Florida Jaycees(1982 & 1986); International Who's Who of Intellectuals; Who's Who in the South & Southwest; Who's Who in the World; SEFSC nominee, American Values Award for Community Service, United Way, Da..y, FL(1995); set up charitable remainder trust for the Lord, homeless, hospitals, medical research & scholarships, 25 various charities, 1997;, Champions of the Heart Legacy award, American Heart Assn, 1998; Founders Society, Alzeimers's Assn., 1997; Lifetime Giving Society, N. C. Publications: Mr Newlin has published many articles with the most recent 64 "Seafood Dealer Directories"(2003) on the web at http://www.sefsc.noaa.gov; His most successful pubs are: "How to Run Successful Projects" and "How to Run Successful Civic Organizations"(1989)(the principles expounded in these guides have been proven for the Coconut Grove and the Petersburg Jaycees for they have both won Howards(#1 Chapter in the U. S. Jaycees for their Population Division) in 82-89 and '76 respectively but for over 5,000 chapters nation-wide); and "One of Our Own Remembered, JCI Senator #72, Richard M. Nixon(1994). Guest Speaker: National Reputation as being as the expert in running successful civic organizations and projects and has been sought after as an invited guest speaker and was the guest speaker on Planning & Programming and CPGs on a nationwide level(TX, WI, HI, VA, and TN besides FL)(1981-90) and as a direct result of using the philosophies he taught four chapters which have been recognized at the U. S. Jaycees National Conventions as the Best Chapter in the Nation(Harold A. Marks Award)(1986-89) and publicly named him for helping them achieve this before over 5,000 delegates and the making of three video training tapes for the FL Jaycees Video Connection.
