Recycling in your building?
I am living in Met1 and there is a system in place for recycling at the trash chutes, but it doesn't work. There is a sign indicating they will notify us when it is setup, so for now there is no recycling at Met1.
Do the other buildings provide recycling? If so, do you know if it is working, or just putting everything in the same trash container.

Haven't seen much emphasis about recycling at 50 Biscayne or One Miami. There is only a trash chute on every floor. I'm not sure about the other buildings.
I doubt many people will do it if they have to physically drop the recyclable items somewhere on the ground level.

Neo-Loft is recycling and it is very, very popular. On most days, the two recycling bins are packed. In addition, we have changed our parking garage lights to energy saving ones.

That is great to hear. I don't think it is right to force people to recycle and conserve, but it sounds like at Neo-Loft it is a lifestyle...very cool!

My building, Villa Regina, recycles newspapers, and plastic, aluminum, glass etc. There is no place to put office paper or magazines. You have to physically take your recycling to a level of our garage. On any given Saturday at our pool deck, I see a dozen or more plastic and glass bottles and aluminum cans thrown into the garbage.
Seems Miami condo buildings, even the newest ones, are behind the times on the issue of recycling! Maybe MUL could create a coalition to trouble shoot this problem.

Alex One Miami does have a recycling program. You have to take the recyclable items to the ground floor where the bins are. Our bins now hold paper, glass, aluminum, etc.. all in one bin. Its great because you don't have to seperate them once you get to the bins. I am actually surprised at how many people are recycling.

The trash chutes at 900 Biscayne have different options such as trash, newspaper, plastic and glass. Depending on which option you pick the trash goes in the appropriate bin. It makes recycling very easy.

We have the same system (Met1), but a note above it indicating that it isn't working. It is good to hear many other buildings are recycling. I did find out through some research that all condo buildings in Miami fall under the Miami Dade Commercial and Multi-Family recycling code (passed Sept 22, 2008, enforced by June 22, 2009). Sounds like it is just a technical issue that is put on the bottom of the list for Met1.

I wish I had that type of system at 50 Biscayne. Every building should have this.
